My inspiration

David Simon is the creator of The Wire, HBO's critically acclaimed show that chronicles the failure of the American city. The show is told through the perspectives of the Baltimore city police department, and the criminal element that plagues the city. The Wire is THE show of the 21st century that ushered in the golden age of television. It's the one show I watch from beginning to end twice a year. Before Breaking Bad there was The Wire that showed the world what televison could do. Don't even get my started on the shows awesome theme song.

Spike Lee is the visionary director that probed the minds of America. His films shed light on the trials and tribulations of black men and women in America. Spike Lee has never been afraid to voice his opinion of America's culture. Nothing I can say can bring justice to the amount of work and dedication this man has for his craft. When you think of strong black male directors he is at the top of the list. I strive to one-day tale stories that highlight  the issues the country has dealing with the lives of black men and women.  In today's information and visual society, his films subject matter speaks even louder today. Spike Lee is a man with a vision just like myself.

John Singleton along with Spike Lee has given us quality films that shine a light on the quality of life of black men and women in America. His film Boyz in the Hood  illuminated the ugly truth on the world inner city youth inhabit. His film Higher Learning should be a mandatory watch for every college student entering into the adult world. John Singelton continues to work and direct quality movies and television shows. He has shown through his movies there is no topic off limits to bring awareness to an issue. I one day wish to stand next to him and do the same.

Ian Fleming

The man, in my opinion, who invented cool. The creator of the world's most famous spy; James Bond 007. What I admire about Ian Fleming is that he was also a military man. He was a Naval Intelligence Officer and used his experience to accurately depict and breath authentic life into the world of James Bond.  I wish to do the same with my military experience. I want to organically fuse my reality with fiction as well as Fleming did.

Hideo Kojima

Can a video game be as cinematic as a movie? Hideo Kojima said yes. When the video Metal Gear Solid hit the shelves he showed the world how. One of the first video games I ever played was Metal Gear Solid on the PlayStation console. In 1996 Metal Gear Solid was the first game to push the limits of a console and deliver a 3D experience unlike any other. That game blew my mind not just for its graphics but the quality storytelling only found in the finest films.  The creator of this game is Hideo Kojima, and Mr. Kojima used that game to invent the stealth action genre of video games. Today the gaming world can do nothing but imitate and pay homage to the godfather of the genre.  The Metal Gear series proved that video games are a respectable medium that can have oscar worthy writing and acting.
